Tops and Bottoms (December 16th, 2011)

I write a weekly column called “Tops and Bottoms: This Week in Pop Culture Dominance” for the DC-based blog Brightest Young Things. It comes out every Friday. Here is an example of what you can find on my column, which you can read here.

Guess we know who is the bottom in that situation, huh? Oh, that was mean – too harsh for such a sweet, adorable clip of two men, committed to each other and to their family, receiving really amazing news. I would probably lose my shit and act in the same unrestricted way. Camera be damned.

But really – I like the idea of moving into a future where gay grandpas and gay grandmas are a reality. I think I’m preaching to the choir here, but clips like this will help those who listen to the likes of Michele Bachmann and Newt Gingrich see a more well rounded perspective of what the gays are all about. Just because we’re gay doesn’t mean we don’t have family values. Especially when family values entail picking out adorable onesies and fun nursery colors.

Yay gay grandpas! Congrats!
